Slam Land
A game about dunking your adversaries to the delight of a mysterious, blue man.
In this game jam turned passion project for Bread Machine Games, my primary contributions were sound design and audio programming. Using tools like Ableton Live, I created quick, minute long audio tracks to accompany the strange levels. I spent much of my free time scheduling, producing, and editing voice recording sessions for game sound assets. This project allowed me to use my lifelong passion of music and sound production to create, have fun, and enhance gameplay experiences.
Slam Land released in 2018 for Playstation 4, Nintento Switch, and Steam.
One of my favorite contributions to this release is an audio system to provide signature processing according to character types. This allowed us to reuse audio clips that were generic enough to work for many characters (punches, landings, grunts) but give them qualities unique to the character it was tied to. This saved the project time and production in the long run, reducing the number of files needed to hit release. Get in touch with me if you’d like to hear about some of the systems I wrote for Slam Land, or see some code examples.
